We made a proposal to the open ideas competition for the urban redevelopment of Sakaristonmäki area in Kouvola. The proposal was inspired by old Kouvola city Master Plans from Early 20th century that tried to implement a garden city -like structure to the competition area. This would mean bordering the residential areas clearly along the bigger streets to prevent noise and creating clear edges to the areas. The inner structure of the residential blocks is left more open to let the nature flow inside the blocks.

Ín Jury evaluation the proposal was seen as carefully thought and presented but deemed as too efficient in relation to the city’s goals for the area.
